This was a hard shot to achieve, but I loved the result: a portrait of humanity's smallness amid the vastness of nature. Photographed from the eastern side, the Flinders Ranges are here drenched with colour by the rays of the rising sun. The difference in light levels (between the top and bottom halves of the scene) almost made the photograph impossible. But just at that magical moment when the sun first glowed, the light was reflected off the mountains back into the valley. It was enough to capture the details of the farm as well as the magnificence of the ranges and sky. How proud this farmer would have been to call this place home!
